National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA)

NOMA, an increasing influential voice, promotes the quality and excellence of minority design professionals. There are NOMA Chapters in all parts of the country, increasing recognition on colleges and university campuses and providing greater access to government policy makers.

NOMA, which thrives only when voluntary members contribute their time and resources, has as its mission the building of a strong national organization, strong chapters and strong members for the purpose of minimizing the effect of racism in our profession.

The BCA – Different Cultures One Direction

Founded in 1993, the Black Culinarian Alliance is a national organization of Foodservice and Hospitality Professionals. The BCA is a not- for-profit educational and networking organization devoted to the enhancement of professional and educational opportunities for blacks within the hospitality industry.

Mission Statement:
To rectify the lack of exposure, awareness, and education that currently exists for blacks in the hospitality industry. The BCA's lifelong mission is to expand into a multi-cultural organization that will exemplify, emulate, and truly define cultural diversity, the worldly traveling of food, and the shaping of ethnic cuisine's.

Foodservice Institute Of America (FIA)

The FIA is a non-profit organization that develops, enhances and supports ideas for the betterment of the foodservice industry and the people who serve it. FIA is committed to advancement and professional development of its members through education, communication and collaboration.

Mission Statement: The Foodservice Institute of America serves as a new model for the foodservice industry through which every company and every individual in it can access resources that enable them to operate more efficiently, more cohesively, better connected and better prepared to embrace the future.

NSMH is the premier professional organization for minority hospitality students. We address diversity and multiculturalism, as well as the career development of our student members. With over one thousand members across the country, we continue to set the precedent for the future leaders on this industry.

Hispanic Hotel Owners Association

The HHOA was organized to serve as an indispensable resource to its members by offering educational programs and a business network that is designed to build an awareness of the opportunities (employment, procurement and development) that exists in the lodging industry and provide our members with the resources, support and information to assist him or her as a hotel developer, owner and operator.

Mission Statement:
To increase opportunities for Hispanics to own, develop and operate hotels; as well as advance Hispanic-owned suppliers serving the hotel industry and increase management advancement opportunities within the lodging industry.

American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA)

Serving the hospitality industry for nearly a century, AH&LA is the sole national association representing all sectors and stakeholders in the lodging industry, including individual hotel property members, hotel companies, student and faculty members, and industry suppliers. Headquartered in Washington, D.C., AH&LA provides members with national advocacy on Capitol Hill, public relations and image management, education, research and information, and other value-added services to provide bottom line savings and ensure a positive business climate for the lodging industry. Partner state associations provide local representation and additional cost-saving benefits to members.

National Association of Black Hotel Owners, Operators & Developers (NABHOOD)

When the first Multicultural Tourism Summit was held in 1997 in Fort Lauderdale, African-Americans involved in the hotel business saw a need for an organization to represent their interests. After two years of preparation, a meeting was held at an African American owned hotel just outside of Atlanta and an organization was formalized to begin the process of breaking the glass ceiling. NABHOOD is now a reality.

Mission Statement: To increase the number of African Americans in developing, managing, operating and owning hotel properties thereby creating jobs and wealth in the African American Community.

Historically Black College/University Network (HBCU)

The HBCU Network is a company created to promote a five point initiative: Community, Leadership, Education, Economic Empowerment, and Networking amongst its members. 'HBCU' stands for Historically Black College or University and represents 103 institutions in the United States. The HBCU Network strives to accomplish the five initiatives through conferences, seminars, networking events, scholarships, and various community-wide events. The HBCU Network also emphasizes the active and enthusiastic support of our HBCU’s, in an effort to not only celebrate these institutions as an integral piece of our history, but also to help facilitate the education and growth of tomorrow's leaders.

Indiana Minority Supplier Development Council (IMSDC)

The IMSDC is a free standing minority supplier development council.  It is an affiliate of the National Minority Supplier Development Council, and one of thrity-nine regional councils operating in the United States.  The IMSDC was created by the Indianapolis busnioess community in the mid '70s to address and support minority business development.  The IMSDC is supported by corporate membership dues, contributions, and by funding from the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC).

Mission Statement: To promote and cultivate successful minority enterprises within the Indiana business community.  The IMSDC serves as an advocate for the economic well-being and growth of IMSDC-certified MBEs, while also providing a direct connection for corporations who are committed to purchasing products and services from IMSDC-certified MBEs.

The National Society For Healthcare Food Service Management (HFM)

HFM is the only professional society dedicated exclusively to senior independent non-contract healthcare foodservice management professionals. The Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial Project Foundation is creating a memorial on the National Mall in Washington, DC to Dr. King’s legacy. Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC)

The SPLC was founded in 1971 as a small civil rights law firm. Today, the Center is internationally known for its tolerance education programs, its legal victories against white supremacists and it’s tracking of hate groups. Located in Montgomery, Alabama – the birthplace of the Civil Rights Movement – the Center was founded by Morris Dees and Joe Levin, two local lawyers who shared a commitment to racial equality. Its first president was civil rights activist Julian Bond. The Southern Poverty Law Center is a nonprofit organization supported by the contributions of thousands of caring individuals.

The Arthritis Foundation

The Arthritis Foundation efforts center on the three-fold mission of the organization: research, prevention and quality of life. The Arthritis Foundation currently provides nearly $20 million in grants to nearly 300 researchers to help find a cure, prevention or better treatment for arthritis. The Bethlehem House

The Bethlehem House is an Indianapolis based not-for-profit agency that serves individuals who are adversely affected by substance abuse, HIV/AIDS, homelessness, and an impoverished life. All services are free to individuals who qualify and are possible through local and federal grants, donations, and private foundation funds. The Bethlehem House is home to two programs: HIV and AIDS and Substance Abuse Support Services. Both services provide support such as transportation, advocacy, and referrals to ensure that individuals receive appropriate and effective services to meet their daily needs.
